Obituary
Valerie Faye Roebke, nee Nortman, 65, beloved wife of the late W. Kurt Roebke; devoted daughter of the late Rose Nortman; loving sister of Sterling (Grace) Nortman; adored aunt of Cheryl (Brian) Greenspan, Tom and Lisa (Bob) Lopez; cherished companion to Stephen Taylor. Valerie leaves behind countless friends, new and old, whom she treasured and considered members of her family. Valerie loved the arts, especially music, and could often be found enjoying and promoting the sounds of Chicago’s independent music scene. She also loved to travel. Be it to Fort Myers Beach, the Caribbean or Lake Michigan, she adored the beach, reveling in its peacefulness and beauty. It was her favorite place. Valerie loved her animals. They were cherished members of her family, bringing her much joy. She had a wicked sense of humor, a brilliant smile and a relentless positive attitude that brightened the days of all who knew her. Chapel service Monday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Valerie was a charitable person who gave what she could to those in need. In lieu of flowers, we ask those who desire, please give, with warm hands, to a charity of your choice.
